PNG’s 13th Investment Promotion event underway in Brisbane

The Papua New Guinea’s two-day business promotion conference is underway at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Center in Australia.

The conference has played a major role over the years in driving business and investment opportunities in PNG.

The PNG High Commissioner to Australia His Excellency John Ma’o Kali said this year's event is time to major and oncoming development locally.

“The aim of this conference is to provide delegates an update on PNG’s economy, provide investors on regulatory environment of doing business in PNG and introduce to them PNG’s relevant government agencies, to highlight special businesses and investment opportunities through panel discussions, case studies, and presentations and lastly to provide investors a conducive environment where they can discuss specific opportunities in PNG,” Kali said.

The 13th conference held overseas will feature sectors including mining, petroleum, LNG, infrasturcture, financial services, Tourism, Logistics and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Meantime, the Minister for International Trade and Investment Richard Maru who was supposed to deliver the keynote address on behalf of Prime Minister James Marape was unable to attend the event today for reasons unknown.
