Opposition MPs land in Goroka

A week-long tour of the Highlands Region landed the Opposition Members of Parliament in the Eastern Highlands provincial capital.
They were received by Governor Simon Sia and his people in Goroka on Thursday.
The week-long road trip in the nation’s most populous region started in the Ialibu – Pangia District of Southern Highlands, and then down the Highlands Highway to Jiwaka and Simbu Provinces, before arriving in Eastern Highlands.
The team led by former Finance Minister Rainbo Paita and 12 opposition MPs are on a mission to talk to the people about the state of the economy.
Mr Paita was the Opposition nominee in the unsuccessful motion of no-confidence notice in the last parliament sitting.
The alternative government paid a visit the Surgical and Diagnostic Center at the Goroka Base Hospital, Goroka Market, Medical Research Institute, National Sports Institute, and the China Aid Juncao Rice and Mushroom Projects.
The people of the province used the opportunity to thank, former Prime Minister Peter O'Neill for the construction of the state-of-the-art Diagnostic Center and modern Goroka Market, funded when the People’s National Congress was in government.
