Information Communication Technology Minister is keen on discussing topical issues at this year’s Pacific International Media conference in Fiji.

Minister Timothy Masiu wants Papua New Guinea media to speak one voice with its Pacific sister nations on cross cutting issues affecting the region.

Mr. Masiu says climate change, geopolitical power play, artificial Intelligence [AI] among others are complex issues affecting the region including PNG.

He says, these issues need to be understood and reported well with uniformity.

He will be sharing these issues from PNG's context and is keen to hear and learn from other Pacific nations and international media academics and experts on their coverage and reporting angles.

Media plays a pivotal role in addressing these issues and if not amplified well, it has the power to break nations and destroy developments happening.

Minister Masiu is heading to Suva, Fiji today for the 2024 Pacific International Media conference scheduled from July 4th – 6th.

He says, this high-level media meeting has been happening in the past without PNG ICT Minister's participation. He claims that the first participation is timely for the country.

The conference is hosted by the University of the South Pacific’s School of Pacific Arts in Suva, Fiji.
