Census in Milne Bay to start end of this week

The National Population and Housing Census in Milne Bay should have started over the weekend, but it has been further delayed.
In Alotau on Monday morning, its census field gear for enumerators finally arrived and all its LLG Census Coordinators are being summoned into Alotau to help with sorting and collecting of these gears along with workload books and mobile tablets to take to their teams.
Provincial Census Coordinator Dimiki Doula confirms it’s like enumeration will get underway by the end of the week, given distribution will be another mammoth task.
“Now the arrival of the field gears including umbrellas, caps, t-shirts and other equipment required for the data collection.
“By the end of Thursday or Friday the enumeration exercise will commence. By the end of the week, we will have completed one LLG and will have another 16 more LLGs to go,” Mr. Doula said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Doula confirms that only Alotau Urban of the 18 LLGs in Milne Bay will officially start today.
Milne Bay is attempting to conduct enumeration in under three days before the Census deadline this Sunday, June 30.
The community has again been urged to cooperate with the enumerators to get this exercise done effectively.
