National Broadcasting Corporation engineering partnership with Unitech

The National Broadcasting Corporation [NBC] and the PNG University of Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] in Port Moresby, today.
The MoU sets a clear pathway for communication engineering students to get practical on-job training with NBC, and also creates space for NBC staff to take up studies at the university.
NBC Managing Director Kora Nou said "this MoU is to improve the technical capabilities of NBC given the forever evolving technology [and] also to enhance some pathway for some of our technical staff to go back and upgrade their skills at the university, so it's a win-win situation.
"There are other areas in communication and business we can also tap into but for now we will focus on the engineering and technical aspect.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Ora Renagi said, the university has a big responsibility to play “in the area of ICT, communication, cyber-security and many more and we are grateful to sign this MoU.”
Meanwhile, ICT Minister Timothy Masiu described the MoU as “significant” in NBC's commitment in the development of PNG's human resources in the field of information and communication technology.
"This partnership is a tangible step towards enriching the educational experiences of our students in the field of electronics, ICT, and broadcast engineering.
"It bridges the gap between academic learning and practical application, we are empowering the next generation of technology leaders and innovators," Mr Masiu said.
