Delay not good: census official

A census coordinator is feeling let down by Waigani.
Safia Local Level Government census coordinator in Northern Province, John David Botude said 2024 national population census is “a national function and the government has let us down [because] things are not happening on time, we need time to do this work properly,” and he is worried about the time-frame given to conduct the census work in his LLG.
Mr. Botude told NBC News that training for Saifa LLG census officials is yet to be conducted before their dispatched to 13 wards of the LLG.
“But as a coordinator, I feel time is against me so I’m organizing Popondetta Secondary School to conduct the training before I go down.”
Mr Botude said with the geographical challenge of the LLG and delay in training of the counting officials, his team is committed to count everyone in their LLG.
