Headcount of people in Western Province districts yet to start

The headcount of people in two districts in Western Province for the 2024 National Population Census has yet to start because officials have yet to complete training.
The nationwide population count commenced on 17th June and will end on 30th June 2024.
Daru Provincial Census Coordinator, Goneang Yokwar informed NBC News that census training materials for Daru and Balimo did not arrive on Wednesday from Port Moresby, delaying the tier-three training for the enumerators in South Fly and Delta Fly Districts.
He confirmed receipt of 275 tablets equipped with SIM Cards, however, they are yet to receive the supervisors' training manual and the interviewers' training guide.
Delta Fly will get 113 tablets and 147 is for South Fly.
He clarified that the training scheduled for last week had now been delayed due to logistical issues, and funding delays to transport the materials over to Daru.
The tier-three training is expected to start next week, before counting of people in the districts can be done.
