The special reference filed by the opposition under section 18 of the constitution seeking interpretation from the courts on the motion of vote of no confidence will be heard on 27 June.

Presiding Judge Derek Hartshorn says the matter returns in two weeks’ time for court to determine the standing of the opposition Leader to file the special reference.

He says the two applications of the speaker of Parliament and Attorney General to join the proceedings will also be heard on this date.

Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa and his Deputy James Nomane, and other members of the opposition were present in court this morning.

They affirmed their commitment to this legal process.

The leaders expressed their gratitude to all members of the public following these proceedings and requested respect and patience for the rule of law and the justice system.

Mr. Tomuriesa says while the case is ongoing, the Opposition maintains steadfast and committed in its collective stance against poor leadership.
