“Most LLGs don’t have baseline data available right now. We don’t have primary data.

"If you ask one of the officers about the number of schools in Mosa LLG and the population of ages between 5 to 10, no one knows. So, your work is very important”, Mosa LLG President Jim Ninda told volunteers who are undergoing training for the national census.

He told the census enumerators that current development programs and allocation of resources are done on an ad-hoc basis and without the backing of relevant data.

He said, “We will rely on you to bring back the data so that we can do a proper analysis to attach with the submissions we will work on. All the project submissions written to the governor and minister were based on people’s requests and complaints. There was no data attached which is not right".

"So, the data you will collect is very important as it will assist to identify the specific needs in respective areas such as SME, Law and Order, and many others.”

The National Statistical Office is running a training for census enumerators in Mosa LLG this week.
