PM conveys condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in Enga landslide

Prime Minister James Marape has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a landslide in Enga in the early hours of Friday morning.

Speaking from Madang, the Prime Minister assured that relevant authorities are working diligently to address the disaster.

“I am yet to be fully briefed on the situation; however, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the landslide disaster in the early hours of this [Friday]morning,” he said.

Prime Minister Marape outlined the immediate response efforts being coordinated by the government.

“We are sending in disaster officials, PNG Defense Force, and the Department of Works and Highways to meet provincial and district officials in Enga and also start relief work, recovery of bodies, and reconstruction of infrastructure."

“I will release further information as I am fully briefed on the scale of destruction and loss of lives,” the Prime Minister added.
