The National Highway, Mendi Tambul, and the Hiri Lai Roads have experienced landslides at different points, causing disruptions to the traffic flow.

Locals living along the roadsides are taking advantage of the landslides and are demanding money from the traveling public after creating bypasses.

Robin Pip, a community leader in Nipa Station, emphasized the urgency of the situation and called for the Provincial Department of Works to step in and remove the debris.

He mentioned that vehicle owners are struggling to pay the opportunists at different locations, and some vehicles are left stranded at the landslip area when they do not meet the demands.

Mr. Pip also highlighted the need for police presence from Southern Highlands, Hela, and Enga Provinces at these locations.
