IRC Commissioner Sam Koim (Solomon Sumb)

Internal Revenue Commission [IRC] Commissioner General Sam Koim revealed that revenue collected from taxes have doubled.

"We've improved a lot. When I took over, we used to collect about K8 billion but last year we doubled it to just under K16 billion. It's now taking a sustainable growth trajectory and that's something I'm proud of. Our team worked tirelessly to address tax evasion", Mr Koim said.

After successful completion of tax mapping exercise carried out by IRC, the next stage is compliance enforcement.

"Now we are at the stage where we are trying to migrate taxpayers support to be attributed to provinces. The tax mapping is to identify the number of businesses registered, issued Tax Identification Numbers [TIN], where they operate, and their compliance status", says Koim.

IRC have branches in all provinces, except Hela Province.
