Prime Minister launches Kerema District SME

Prime Minister James Marape has arrived in Kerema Town, Gulf Province to launch the Kerema District SME which coincides with the opening of the Women’s Micro Bank.

James Marape will deliver the keynote address followed by the official opening of the women’s micro bank building and ribbon cutting.

This historic event marks a significant milestone for the people of Kerema and Gulf Province.

The member for Kerema Open who is also the Vice Minister for Petroleum and Energy, Thomas Opa says he is committed to empowering local entrepreneurs and women in business.

The initiative is aimed at assisting women in the district to have access to banking services and SME loans.

Kerema District Development Authority has allocated K2 million to the Women’s Microbank to make this feasible.

The district has embarked on the implementation of the National SME Policy and National Policy on Financial inclusion which paves way for economic growth and empowerment in the community.
