A former MP and only female candidate nominates in Sohe by-election

Deliah Gore, a former MP for Sohe District is the only female among fifteen male candidates running for the Sohe seat in the court ordered by-election.

Ms. Gore, one term former member for Sohe Open from 2012 to 2017 is contesting under Social Democratic Party.

Incumbent Henry Jones Amuli ousted by a court decision is contesting under Pangu Party.

Anthony Nene, two term former member from 2002 to 2012 is running under PNG Party.

After nominations closed last Thursday [2 May] the order of draws for the sixteen candidates’ box numbers was conducted under the supervision of returning officer for Sohe by-election and Provincial Election Manager Ms. Daisy Hombogani.

The Northern Provincial Administrator Trevor Magei and Deputy Provincial Administrator Local Level Government Services were also at the order of draws.

Campaigning has started and will run for four weeks ending on 24 May and the day after polling day starts and ends on 29 May.

There are four LLG's in Sohe; Higaturu rural, Kira rural, Kokoda rural and Tamata rural.
