Pacific Island Forum Secretariat holds in-country consultation in PNG this week

Pacific Island Forum Secretariat or PIFS is conducting a week In-Country National Consultation in PNG this week.

The Consultation in PNG is an agreement that was reached last year amongst member countries including PNG, for PIF to conduct in-country consultation on key PIFS regional initiatives for 2024.

The PIF Secretariat senior officials led by Deputy Secretary General Esala Nayasi arrive today from Fiji.

Some of the key initiatives of the consultation are,  to raise awareness and appreciation for Pacific Regionalism and the Pacific Island Forum's role in the Pacific Regionalism, Consul member countries including PNG on the Secretariat's work including key policies, process and initiatives.

The Pacific Islands Forum, organization was established in 1971 to provide a setting for heads of government to discuss common issues and problems facing the independent and self-governing states of the South Pacific including PNG.
