Appointment of a former police commissioner as PPC Enga is expected to bring back confidence of police presence in the province

Former Police Commissioner and Diplomat Fred Yakasa is set to take on his appointment as Provincial Police Commander for Enga Province.

Yakasa is on a two-year contract with the Royal PNG Constabulary [RPNGC].

He told NBC News today that he looks forward to the re-engagement into RPNGC.

He intends to work closely with all stakeholders in Enga Province to ensure law and order problems that are out of control are addressed adequately.

According to Yakasa his priority for the next four months will be focused around establishing strategies and solutions that will efficiently address tribal conflicts and criminal activities within trouble zones of the province.

He will be working closely with the commander of the Special Policing Zone [SPZ] command to deliver target priorities.

The SPZ is comprised of Hela, Southern Highlands and Enga provinces.

Yakasa has decades of experience within the police hierarchy command and his recall into RPNGC as PPC Enga is expected to bring back confidence in the police force presence in the province.
