Late Jimmy Uguros casket arrives in Port Moresby this afternoon

The body of the late Usino-Bundi MP Jimmy Uguro arrived at the Jacksons International terminal in Port Moresby at 3pm this afternoon.
The casket was received by Prime Minister James Marape, Ministers, Members of Parliament and Staff of the Department of Education and others.
Immediate family members of the late MP including his friends and colleagues were also at the airport to receive the casket.
As people gathered to receive the casket, PM James Marape expressed that Late Uguro had been a person of unique work ethics and someone who had sheer determination and vision to change the education sector in the country and his death is a great loss for PNG.
Mr Marape acknowledged late Uguro's exemplary work ethic, his passion and zeal to drive education but more importantly the Flexible and Open Distance Education (FODE), of which he himself was a product.
"As an educationist and having seen the value of FODE, Minister Uguro pushed hard to have FODE integrated into our schools and properly operational to cater to our young people pushed out from the school system.
"He was also focused on our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)students receiving specialized training overseas to expand this field and was instrumental in getting some of this work going as part of the reforms we are undertaking to restructure the Education system," Mr Marape said.
He said the government will give its full commitment to ensure that the late Member of Parliament is given the respect as accorded to a minister of State, and that he is properly farewelled on his way to his resting place.
Meanwhile, the body is expected to be taken to the family home in 8mile then to Dove funeral home.
