After nearly five consecutive years in power, cracks are now opening in the ruling executive government, with the resignation of a state minister.

Member for Sinasina Yongomulg, Kerenga Kua hand delivered his resignation letter as Energy Minister to the office of the prime minister on Thursday.

He's teaming up with members of parliament who are publicly calling for a change to the government, Mr Kua says “It is time to commence search for a new government.”

In a media conference in Port Moresby this morning, the parliamentary leader of the National Party said, the decision to resign from government is because after five years in power, the country is not “progressing, we are regressing; we have to come back to do a stock take.”
