The decision to restore normalcy in the nation’s capital under the state of emergency orders will not disrupt electricity.

PNG Power acting chief executive officer Nehemaiah Naris said it will be business as usual and brushed aside rumors of workers strike.

He assures electricity consumers and the general public that it will continue to play its role as the electricity service provider during this challenging time [and] completely dispelled rumors circulating on social media that there will be power outages nationwide and spreading information on planned strike by employees.

“There is a current National Court order in place preventing employees from going on strike, and employees are fully aware of the consequences.”

Mr Naris said the state-owned company will comply with emergency orders issued by the Controller.

Meanwhile, under the emergency orders issued by SOE Controller Donald Yamasombi Independent Consumer and Competition Commission must ensure that there is no increase in prices of goods and services.
