Madang seafarers cautioned not to travel in bad weather conditions

Seafarers in Madang and those planning to travel into the Province by small sea crafts have been cautioned to avoid traveling in bad weather.

The Provincial Police Commander for Madang, acting superintendent Robert Baim sent the warning this week after a boating incident between the waters of Madang and Morobe provinces last week.

A 3 year old girl was one of 3 victims that were taken to Madang after they were rescued by an international vessel that was passing through the waters of Madang.

PPC Baim says police in the province do not have enough resources to attend to mishaps at sea and seafarers need to be mindful of this.

He adds, disaster happens at any time and police cannot be expected to be everywhere at any one time attending to complaints.

The PPC is urging residents in the province to be mindful of their safety and celebrate the new year peacefully, avoiding trouble at all costs.
