Mount Hagen city roads to get K267 million works

Papua New Guinea’s third largest city will be visited by Prime Minister James Marape with millions of -Kina worth of cheques before Christmas.  

Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa revealed this week, “launching of the city roads (in Mt Hagen) on Friday 22nd December,” describing it as the “first official visit to Western Highlands” by Prime Minister Marape in this term of Parliament.  

“Western Highlands is always the face of the Highlands Region” said Mr. Rapa indicating the importance of the province.  

 Works and Highways Department secretary David Wereh confirmed to this newsroom “prime minister will officially launch K276 million main arterial roads to urban road standard that will complement the four-lane highway that runs through Hagen City.”

Governor Rapa further talked about the unity by all open members of parliament from the province, which was “missing for a long time”. 

“Western Highlands has changed for the short time in 12 -13 months.”
