Australian Prime Minister arrives to walk the historic Kokoda Track

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's pilgrimage to the Kokoda Track landed him in Port Moresby at 2:29pm.

Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko and NCD Governor Powes Parkop welcomed Mr Albanese with handshakes at 2:41pm before his entourage departed Jackson's International Airport.

Prime Minister James Marape will host his counterpart at Parliament House for dinner, this evening.

On Tuesday, the journey to follow the footsteps of Australian servicemen and native Papua New Guineans who died during World War II fighting at Kokoda in Northern Province will begin, as both prime ministers depart Port Moresby.
