Bodies of those who lost their lives in the recent tragic air crash
in the Owen Stanley Ranges are expected to be taken to their place of
origin soon.
This follows the completion of the identification process that took
place after the remains were brought in from the crash site to Port
Moresby.
The bodies were accommodated at the funeral home and under went an
identification process.
Officer In charge of Police Forensic, Chief Inspector Philip
Rambaliku, says the identification process went smoothly and was
completed on Saturday morning.
Mr Rambaliku says, the bodies have already been released and
authorities and relatives will arrange for funeral and repatriation of
the bodies to their place of origin for burial.
The Japanese Embassy and Australian High Commission Officials say,
they are negotiating with relatives of the expatriates on possible
arrangements for repatriation.
They say they expect to fly the bodies anytime this week, however
this will depend on the response they get from relatives on possible
options.
Meantime, funerals for the three Papua New Guineans who lost their
lives in the crash are expected to take place this week.
