Papitalai investigations continue

Mon Apr 20, 2009 12:00pm

Papitalai Secondary School in the Manus province would remain closed as investigations into the recent student riots continue.

Manus Provincial Education Advisor Pompiran Kuyei said the school will not commence classes in the coming week due to the special investigations being carried out.

Mr. Kuyei said whilst students and parents are looking forward to the commencement of the second term on Monday, April 20, the Papitalia Secondary School will remain suspended until further notice.

He said the school will remain suspended until the special investigation team have completed their thorough investigation into the recent student riot at the school.

The team has been authorized to complete all its findings in 10 working days.

He said while this is unfortunate, this case calls for no other options, but to continue the suspension in order to allow a probe into the events of the students' riot.

At the same time, the Provincial Education Board is seeking strategies to prevent similar happenings in the future.
