Temu comes under spotlight

A new wave of disturbance is causing uneasiness within the ruling
National Alliance over a letter reportedly supporting the referral of
Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare to a leadership tribunal.
And, Sir Michael's deputy, Dr Puka Temu, is allegedly at the top of
this fresh development, with copies of a letter reportedly written by
him, dropped off by anonymous persons at daily newspapers yesterday.
Dr Temu has denied writing such a letter, saying he was privileged to
be appointed by Sir Michael as his deputy and has the greatest respect
for the Grand Chief.
He also denied contents of the letter suggesting that he held a
meeting with former Chief Ombudsman Ila Geno, supporting and pressing
for Sir Michael's referral.
He says what's happened is yet again the work of opportunists
attempting to destabilize the Government and a full investigation will
be launched to pin down the culprits.
He is expected to provide a brief for Sir Michael who is on overseas
engagements in Malaysia. |
