SP PNG Hunters have another tough challenge this weekend when they meet Townville Blackhawks at the Jack Manski Oval in Townsville, Australia

Port Moresby based franchise halfback, Jamie Mavoko will not let the poor away statistics get into his mind.

“I think it comes back to us as individual players,” Mavoko told the media.

“We need to prepare ourselves well prior to the game [and] focus on our roles and know what to do as individuals on the field.”

The Hunters were demolished last week by Burleigh Bears and currently sit 12th position on the ladder, registering four losses and two wins, so far.

Coach Paul Aiton admits Hunters continue to struggle when playing away from Port Moresby, and all come down to individual player preparation.

“You can’t just show up at a game with your boots and play.

“You can’t do that at this level and you can’t do that at any professional club and we’re at that level.”

The Hunters have a good winning record against the Townsville based club, having won 8 matches in their last 15 Hostplus Cup encounters.

Forward Anthony Worot who made his long awaited return last week to the Queensland rugby league competition said the Hunters remain committed and hope to improve on their performance this Saturday.

“Coach Paul is trying his best to guide us but it’s up to us players to deliver the results [and] we just need to play our part and align ourselves and play for each other.”
