Dubabagi takes office in Dogura Anglican diocese

Bishop-elect of the Anglican Diocese of Dogura, John Alfred Dubabagi was ordained and installed into office on Sunday, taking over from retired Bishop Tenison Bogar.

Dubabagi was appointed to the top post after Bogar’s six-year term expired last year. 

Anglican-heavies all over PNG and overseas attended the occasion at Dogura plateau’s historical St Peter's & St Michael's Cathedral in Milne Bay province.

Thelma Guni from the Anglican Church Secretariat confirmed that most of the international Bishops who attended the event where from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Solomon Islands.

Former Bishop of the Port Moresby Anglican Diocese Peter Ramsden was the main celebrant at the event staged in Dogura, Rabaraba.

Bishop John Alfred Dubabgi is the 5th Bishop of the Dogura Diocese of the Anglican Church. He described the consecration as a joyful occasion and that he was looking forward to leading the Dogura Diocese forward in unity.

The gospel occasion saw a dayboy feasting on Saturday then the consecration on Sunday.

Dubabagi has been in the priestly service for almost 30 years prior to his appointment as Bishop of Dogura last year.

The 55-year-old is married with five children and hails from Sirisiri village of Makamaka LLG in the Alotau district.
